Get rid of Chrome’s web history icons in new Tabs
Most of us using Google Chrome browser for its fast and simple user friendly browsing but whenever you open a new tab, that new tab page displays the Google search field. And right below that, there are a bunch of icons representing the websites you have recently visited. A lot of people don’t like that their web history is right out there on display for anyone within eyesight of the screen.
Showing most visited sites when opening a new tab is very convenient but sometime it can be annoying.
This is what it looks like:
In office of course sometimes you visit some non-work related sites. You’re not comfortable showing what you’ve visited when the boss need to open up a new tab. With him looking over your shoulder, you open a new tab, and there on display are all the sites you have been visiting recently – YouTube, Reddit, Craigslist (an added touch of embarrassment would be Craigslist showing the “Jobs” category).
At home you may visit some adult sites in your Laptop some time your kids or wife just want to open a new it will show what you’ve visited.
A lot of people have complained about this, and yet Google has still left it to display that way by default. I don’t really understand that, because there doesn’t seem to be a way for Google to have any additional revenues by displaying this information.
So It would be nice if it’s configurable.
How do disable new tab showing most visited sites
This is something that can be avoided just installing currently available chrome extensions in the Chrome Web Store that will modify the behavior of your New Tab Page looks like this..
